Heres a video that Ypr105mi requested. "Blue Suede Shoes" is a rock and roll standard written and first recorded by Carl Perkins in 1955. It is considered one of the first rockabilly (rock and roll) records and incorporated elements of blues, country and pop music of the time. had planted the seed for the song in the fall of 1955, while Perkins, Cash, Elvis Presley, and other Louisiana Hayride acts toured throughout Texas and the South. Cash told Perkins of a black airman whom he had met when serving in the military in Germany. He had referred to his military regulation air shoes as "blue suede shoes". Cash suggested that Carl write a song about the shoes. Carl replied, "I don't know anything about shoes. How can I write a song about shoes?

Carl Sagan - A thousand years of darkness
11 18th, 2008
Its happened before... Carl contemplates that the "submission to ethnic, religious or national identifications" and the rejection of scientific values will leave us tenuously on the brink of a 2nd (and possibly final) dark age. http://www.carlsagan.com/ User Spiff embedded this clip on Videosift with the following description: - In this excerpt from the final episode of Sagan's 'Cosmos,' he discusses why the momentous discoveries of the ancient world were unable to prevent the dark ages from virtually banishing scientific thought for a millennium, and how the ancient world's greatest repository of knowledge, the great library of Alexandria, met its regrettable end. A sobering statement on what ignorance, apathy and fanaticism can do if left unchallenged. .
