January 7th, 2009 at 19:34:53 The first cellist, Ludwig Quandt steals the scene. The conductor has the rare confidence to let this musician take the lead of this performance for a little while. Can anyone tell the final note of his solo?

January 7th, 2009 at 22:38:45 He's the conductor. His job is to make sure everyone is in harmony. During rehearsals he's the one who works on making sure everyone is in sync with everyone else. He's not clowning around. Without him nobody could harmonize themselves so perfectly.
January 7th, 2009 at 23:01:44 The Royal Concertgebouw Orchestra gives a performance of this work in their christmas matinée, the 25th of december featuring Elina Garanca. Watch it live at monteverdi *dot* tv slash rco!

January 8th, 2009 at 00:10:41 is this all from the finale, or is it part of the third section as well?
January 8th, 2009 at 00:33:40 Someone may have posted this before, but I think the reason that maestro Abbado looks so amused at times (besides the fact that he must love his job) is that point where everyone starts opening umbrellas (at 3:10) comes during the section of the overture (starting at 2:40) which depicts a thunderstorm. Talk about making it rain! :)
January 8th, 2009 at 00:56:39 he's directing the orquest, without him everyone is lost!!!
