Comments to “Gene Vincent 1957”

January 7th, 2009 at 19:43:29 He died at the end of the 60s or beginning of the 70s. Spelling erRors ;-)
January 7th, 2009 at 20:06:28 No, they could also do playback in the 50's.
January 7th, 2009 at 20:29:27 Actually, because the show wanted to appeal to the parents more, Dick Clark would make his guest mime to recorded songs because they thought that LIVE performances were too wild! If you were a guest on the show you weren't allowed to wear blue jeans and such, skirts and suits usually. Interesante!
January 7th, 2009 at 20:52:26 Perhaps, but that doesn't mean he deserves any less to be dragged behind a truck. The man's sole purpose in life was to get rich, no matter whose back he stood upon. The blame also lies, in part, with Elvis, Jerry Lee, Little Richard, and Chuck Berry.
January 7th, 2009 at 21:15:25 Dick Clark was a product of the growing medium of television. This was inevitable.
January 7th, 2009 at 21:38:24 i dont think there is any footage of cliff he didn't stay too long..he only played on about 32 odd songs with gene..shame because he was the sound that made everything explode
January 7th, 2009 at 22:01:23 Wow this is real old. But let's dance
January 7th, 2009 at 22:24:22 Preach it brother! Dick Clark helped kill RNR for his own personal gain. Fuck you, Dick.
January 7th, 2009 at 22:47:21 He died in 1971 of a ruptured stomach ulcer.
January 7th, 2009 at 23:10:20 Where is the drummer, the bass player and the back-up singers? Are they behind the curtain with the Wizard of Oz? ;)
January 7th, 2009 at 23:33:19 Anyone have video of Cliff Gallup with Gene Vincent and the Blue Caps?
January 8th, 2009 at 23:56:18 spelling erors... Long live rockabilly! btw, is he still alive?
January 8th, 2009 at 00:19:17 long live rockabill? btw, is he still alive?
January 8th, 2009 at 00:42:16 same to you corndick!
January 8th, 2009 at 01:05:15 Fuck You
January 8th, 2009 at 01:28:14 Now thats good music! Long Live Rockabilly!
January 8th, 2009 at 01:51:13 Actually, Pat "white shoes" Boone unintentionally helped black artists. 'Cause after hearing Bones version of Tutti Frutti they by chance heard Richards and found it immensely better and that created an interest for the real stuff. so they started to look a round. Simple as that.
January 8th, 2009 at 02:14:12 Nah...Vincent wasn't better in 1956 compared to 1957 or 58 or 59. But the style changed a bit. The difference was that in 1956 Gallup's Chet Atkins style of playing gave the band a more 'pure' rockabilly sound compared to in 1957-1960 with Grady not having Gallups prowess but sure had the drive and guts Gene loved.
January 8th, 2009 at 02:37:11 Dick Clark is/was a no-no for the real rocknroll. Clark is a most un-rocnroll-parasite with no check whatsoever but Gene had to visit places like this to get a name and a living out of his music. Tricy Dick Clark got away from the Payola scandal but he sure was in this shit while they litteraly killed Alan Freed (DJ from Clevland and organizer of rnroll shows)who was a genuine rnroll lover and promoter of a lotsa black artists. Sweet Gene Vincent.
January 8th, 2009 at 03:00:10 russel willaford replaced cliff but not for long
January 8th, 2009 at 03:23:09 that's cool but dick clark was on the other side as far as i'm concerned. rock n roll was murdered by these guys. tragic.
January 8th, 2009 at 03:46:08 You got it ! Gene lost that great sound and vitality when Cliff went back to his day job !
January 8th, 2009 at 04:09:07 Thank You for this wonderful archive !
