January 7th, 2009 at 17:41:00 I live in actual New Orleans. I lost an uncle and most of my family, including my dad, stayed behind to help. I was scared to death. He could have died.

January 7th, 2009 at 21:53:49 actually, an eighty foot oak tree destroyed the back half of my house and my aunt and uncle died. i know its not as simple as saying "katrinas over" and i know that more people died, but i do know how hard it is to rebuild and i do know the effects of losing loved ones from this storm. from your comment, it sounds like you were nowhere near the storm, even if you DO live down south. if you read my comment well, youd see i was in baton rouge, not hit as hard as NO, but still in her path
January 7th, 2009 at 22:16:48 its not that simple people died people lost there houses and there loved ones some people lost everything they had and you wouldnt know how hard it would be to go back to nothing so shut up
January 7th, 2009 at 22:39:47 honestly, how many of you were actually in the gulf coast area when katrina hit? or did the majority of you just get on here to bitch about what you saw on CNN from your cozy little condos,1000 mi. from the storm? i was living in baton rouge when she hit,BR is about an hour and a half from new orleans and even what happened in BR was hell, not to mention new orleans. katrina was a big storm,a bunch of people made some stupid choices, a bunch of people got out, thats all there is to it, its over
January 7th, 2009 at 23:02:46 THATS STUPID DONT ACT LIKE A RACIST
January 7th, 2009 at 23:25:45 The black people couldnt escape because there was a secret invisible wall around Katrina that made it impossible for blacks to escape.Whites could walk through the wall and were able to escape but the wall had a special ability of only trapping the blacks.
January 8th, 2009 at 23:48:44 My dad was there 4 3mnths trying to help clean tht place up,he bought home videos that put me in tears...
January 8th, 2009 at 00:11:43 That was Houston, Texas. I don't remember anything or anyone providing free transportation in New Orleans - nothing! All Gov. Blanco was concerned about was looting. Why did it take so long for these people to get any help? Most of these people did not have cars to evacuate, otherwise they would done so.
January 8th, 2009 at 00:34:42 Louisiana Governor Lathleeen Blanco and the National Guard offered FREE transportation to Houston, Texas before Hurricane Katrina hit New Orleans. Those stupid people had a choice, to take the offer or stay and die or suffer.
January 8th, 2009 at 00:57:41 That's where you're wrong. The people complained about the mayor of the city because there were plenty of school buses just sitting there in the yard, and he didn't do a thing about it. I saw it on news more several times. He made up some excuse about people probably not wanting to drive the buses. They even showed all the yellow school buses just sitting there not being used.
January 8th, 2009 at 01:20:40 Hurricane Katrina was a tragedy of their own making. They had days of warnings to evacuate. They knew that a gigantic hurricane was going to hit New Orleans head on. The government offered FREE transportation by use of school buses, Greyhounds, etc. Yet the stupid fools and imbeciles who diecided to stay put themselves into the position that they were in. Why should I have pity for the dead or the suffering of Katrina when they did this to themselves? they had a choice-- the wrong choice.
January 8th, 2009 at 01:43:39 You must be a pretty miserable person, mojave. With the way the economy is going, you may end up like these 3rd world types you're complaining about. Get off your high horse.
January 8th, 2009 at 02:06:38 There were plenty of school buses available, but nothing was being done about it. Many of these people don't have transportation, so they were stuck where they were. I just hope you don't ever experience any catastrophy in your lifetime. These are human-beings - have a heart.
January 8th, 2009 at 02:29:37 yes you pay the taxes and they get your money in the mail
