Comments to “CNN: No Credit for Creationism”

January 7th, 2009 at 17:38:36 Way to go UCLA. That's what happens when you dump Biology and other sciences in the toilet. If you want religion go to Liberty U.
January 7th, 2009 at 18:01:35 The blonde at 1:40 shows very clearly why UC is correct in denying the students credit. She doesn't understand the difference between unfalsifiable guess and theory. That's not going to get you very far in science.
January 7th, 2009 at 18:24:34 Why are Christians polluting our universities? They need no education. They need no science. They say the already know everything, including the meaning of life and the origins of the universe.
January 7th, 2009 at 18:47:33 Uh, no. You are stereotyping majorly. I know that I was raised going to a Catholic school and after looking into many things that they teach (in RELIGION class) that I never looked into, I am now a non-denominational Christian. But just because it is a religious school, doesn't mean that my other classes are not taught properly. The only time I learn about Christ and the bible is in Religion class.
January 7th, 2009 at 19:10:32 you just stated the problem in your opening line, it cannot be called science until proven so. So unless they can test a hypothesis that supports their view, publish it, and win a consensus in a scientific debate it is not scientific and that is its problem.
January 7th, 2009 at 19:33:31 oxymoron: Religious education just like, jumbo shrimp
January 7th, 2009 at 19:56:30 daniele.... WOW not so bright but GODDAM
January 7th, 2009 at 20:19:29 Religious educational institutions do not teach critical thinking. That's why most Christians are just monkeys on typewriters, swallowing whatever they hear at church and accepting it as the truth. I'm so glad I wasn't raised up going to church or attending church schools.
January 7th, 2009 at 20:42:28 i think ID could be scientific if we could examine how god actually did it, however until that time i cant call it science(christian btw) however if they were taught evolution along with other types of theorys i dont see the problem
January 7th, 2009 at 21:05:27 Bravo UCLA. Hopefully this will shed some light on the pseudoscientific nonsense being taught at religiously motivated institutions of higher learning. One example is when Liberty University had dinosaur fossils on display and claimed they were less than 6,000 years old. It honestly amazes me how these institutions keep their accredidations.
January 7th, 2009 at 21:28:26 yah seriously, like why even try to go to science class if you believe in intelligent design.
January 7th, 2009 at 21:51:25 we're talking a factor of A MILLION!
January 7th, 2009 at 22:14:24 I don't agree with you. I get your point but thats not why I'm commenting... I just wanted to say that carbon dating is notoriously inaccurate when dating anything that we know the correct age of. sometimes they even list the acceptable range of dates as like this 1,000,000,000 to 450,000,000,000 thats off by a factor of 450, isn't that enough to at least scientifically question the accuracy of c14 dating?
January 7th, 2009 at 22:37:23 Good job UCLA. The fact that she considers intelligent design as a real scientific theory, reveals severe problems from her scholastic background. Science taught through 'a christian viewpoint' is science taught through a series of filters and rose colored glasses.
January 7th, 2009 at 23:00:22 Intelligent Design is not a theory! They are not getting a broader spectrum by being taught about it, what they are getting is watered down bronze-age myths which should be wholly ignored by now!
January 7th, 2009 at 23:23:21 how can you go from a science class that says that evolution is scientifically equitable to INTELLIGENT DESIGN to a college class where people aren't dumbasses? They can teach their private kids all they want but don't put them in the same classroom as me where they are likely to fight the teacher every step of the way like "isn't god a more suitable theory", "Who said carbon dating couldn't be off by a factor of a million", and "stop attacking my faith with your darwinian religion". lol
January 8th, 2009 at 23:46:20 "The uniform, continuous transformation of Hyracotherium into Equus, so dear to the hearts of generations of textbook writers, never happened in nature."-George Simpson, [...] the short lineages they USED to show in museums was misleading in that it showed only part of the tree from eohippus to the equids leaving out a lot of other lineages simpson was correct about that over simplified lineage being misleading to layman modern museums & textbooks dont use those over simplified images and?
January 8th, 2009 at 00:09:19 That blond just proved that they are not getting a good education.
January 8th, 2009 at 00:32:18 What does that mean? It means the exact same thing as geography classes taught from a Buddhist perspective. Or mathematics from a Hindu perspective. Frankly, the girl in the video reveals how distorted a view of science she's gotten when she talks of the theory of evolution and the theory of ID. Only one of those is a scientific theory, the other is an assertion. tl;dr If I saw her applying to my uni to study a field of science I'd be... concerned that she doesn't understand basic terminology.
January 8th, 2009 at 00:55:17 Considering that Hitching is a dowser, I'm not impressed. Next!
January 8th, 2009 at 01:18:16 well how we got here is pretty well understood we all started as energy from the big bang when that cooled a bit, you got hydrogen helium and probably lithium clouds of H and He condesced to form stars stars formed the rest of the elements the elements make up our bodies and the earth and other planets....see...simple if you want to believe that God did it, well, that's ok ..but this is HOW S/He did it
January 8th, 2009 at 01:41:15 wonder what the rest of that quote was since real geologists DONT use circular reasoning to date rocks ..only creationists do
January 8th, 2009 at 02:04:14 I LOOOOOOOOOOOVE this. Your economy is crumbling. You are in a quagmire of a war. And now you are losing your footing in the sciences. That's what you get for reelecting Bush.
January 8th, 2009 at 02:27:13 i agree religious schools are hurting students that don't no better.. it's really unfortunate, and it's a waste of their time in the long run
January 8th, 2009 at 02:50:12 This schools exam papers wouldn't reach far in many countries around the world. If u believe that there was a magician creating the world and the universe u would be laughed out. Sorry guys, come with some REAL exampapers.
