There's no gratuitousness in his use of the word. There are some things that are aimed at adults because they deal with adult situations. Sure, you might not play the song to your sister, but although the music is beautiful on its own, the lyrics would mean very little to a young girl. There's plenty of other music around with lyrics suitable for young people.

I completely understand what you're saying, and I agree: this isn't something that I would share with my little sister, at least until she's mature enough to handle it. All I'm saying is that just because you use a swear doesn't mean the song itself is not worth listening to. I find the musicality of the song is beautiful, and, for the most part, the lyrics are very nice, though melancholy. Of course, again, that is just my opinion. *shrugs* To each their own, I suppose.
