The favourite prog/hard song of most of Genesis fans, including Steve Hackett's guitar solo!!! Super lineup: Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks. This is from the Foxtrot (Supper is ready) Tour, January 10th 1973 in "Le Club Bataclan", Paris.

  2. NDILA Says:
    hell yeah
  3. RALEIGH Says:
    Coldplay is gay music.
  4. GRIMM Says:
"Super lineup: Peter Gabriel, Steve Hackett, Phil Collins, Mike Rutherford and Tony Banks." Amen to that!
  5. CIHUATON Says:
i disagree. although bon scots song were awesome - the new lads ones have certainly got bite in their teeth
  6. Keane Says:
This song is so... sweet... so ... omg...
  7. LOKELANI Says:
I find it hilarious that people here are arguing over "what prog band is better". Seriously guys? Who cares? Genesis were amazing. That doesn't mean other bands are somehow not amazing. Having a bitchfest over this stuff is ridiculous.
  8. Freeman Says:
I was thinking same thing but I also think that in the end that Peter Gabriel's solo work was more ingenious than anything by any of these guys together or alone. I would never have imagined him the way he is here, shruming out in locomotive jam.
  9. Paco Says:
One would never have thought at the time that the bearded long haired drummer would go on to have a long term career as a mainstream POP singer...
  10. Eldred Says:
Uli Jon Roth, Pete Willis ,Paul Di'Anno, etc they all made the band getting famous, right! So the 'substitutes' , sorry harsh words, , riding on to the charts with some major hits about the rest is history
  11. Merna Says:
all true, except for the ac/dc comment, bon scott rules, but so does brian johnson! you know you like back in black bitch! you dont have to LIKE him tho, but he helped sell millions of records,so he doesnt suck!
  12. Brice Says:
I have been avoiding the lesser gods of prog for some time, but this month I started exploring. Nothing I've heard so far rises to the melodic creativity of KC, ELP, JT, or Soft Machine. In this piece only about 60 seconds of it moved me. I've listened to it 3 times now and it just hasn't hooked me. I haven't heard the others you mentioned yet. I'm hopefull.
  13. Doren Says:
BTW: Elimar, Peter never used drugs, he and the people who surrounded him said it repeatedly, even the members of Van Der Graff Generator who toured with Genesis during the Charisma years recognized they were getting high while Peter was doing crossword puzzles on the bus.
  14. Griorgair Says:
He didn't need to play the flute out of the arse /That's worth to watch for people who dont't know a damn sh!t about music), just reqyuired to play a solid version with excellent lyrics that make sense instead of gibberish like Jon Anderson's. Genesis ruled with Gabriel and Hackett and anybody that says that Collins era was better...should better go to see Britney or N'Sync, because doesn't understand a word of Prog.
  15. Reuben Says:
what shite this band was/is. Even more crap now. How dare people compare these mediocrities with Yes. If he could play the flute out of his arse that would be something to watch, but really, what shite...
  16. UMIT Says:
Genesis was not a jam band. They always knew what they're going to play.
  17. EDMUNDA Says:
i can think of a few bands that after a member left they just sucked..... early Genesis was way better than the sellouts that they became after peter left..Def Leppard's first 2 albulms were great than they became the biggest piece of cheese after pete willis got booted.....Scorpions lost Uli Jon Roth and became a commercial pop band.... once again a band losing all originality and soul to sell a few more records...and AC/DC should have quit after Bon Scott died....the new singer sucks!
  18. CASTALIA Says:
i see too many people need to be spoonfed 3:30 pop songs so they can go about their day and not appreciate what a musical jam band is
  19. Heort Says:
besides Coldplay this band is the shittiest thing ever and I think Youtube got confused recommending me this track because it's called The Knife. fucking hell we just hit the vocals... what a treat.
  20. Merci Says:
i dont get it....i think the best thing to ever happen to genesis was the departure of peter gabriel. that performance lacked vocals and seemed to go on and on with no direction. i`m sure glad they made some quality music later on in their careers cause, this is just one i dont get at all.
  21. ARTUS Says:
most of Genesis' efforts from their best times (not to mention the period with Phil Collins as the band leader...) are quite folkish boring pattern sequences. No that "the knife" that i love indeed.
  22. SENGHOR Says:
1:25 i start seeing zombies stand up from the ground...
  23. Mychaela Says:
nice music, peter is cute but stoned to the bones
  24. Yocheved Says:
One of the best songs ever. :)
  25. Idalie Says:
    wrong
