November 18th, 2008 at 21:25:29 both playings are really good... you can really feel the chemistry... i really did not expect that...
November 18th, 2008 at 21:48:28 No, you got me all wrong, I don't have anything against castrato, it's just that I don't like his voice. I didn't use the right term, maybe.. his voice goes in his nose, and it's sounds like his singing with his nose closed.....you know what I mean? Bryn Terfel isn't gorgeous..he's hot and gorgeous!!!
November 18th, 2008 at 22:11:27 Why, yours is a free country and so is mine. But, methinks, if, one nice day, you will find the time to watch RG singing «Largo al factotum», you just MIGHT change your opinion about castrato:).And, Bryn Terfel IS gorgeous, that's fact.
November 18th, 2008 at 22:34:26 I don't like his voice....don't bother giving me a thumbs down, because I'm just saying what I think... He's voice sounds too much.. castrato,almost.... I have to say that I like Bryn Terfel more...
November 18th, 2008 at 22:57:25 I saw the whole staging and I loved it. Especially Cecilia Bartoli is so convincing in her playing.
November 18th, 2008 at 23:20:24 Sooo fantastic! Every one of them does an outstanding job... especially Donna Elvira.

November 19th, 2008 at 01:15:19 this is a great DON GIOVANNI. They express the real sense of seduction and passion
November 19th, 2008 at 01:38:18 what a great don!!
November 19th, 2008 at 02:01:17 Any possibility of getting his rendition of "Deh vieni alla finestra" posted?
November 19th, 2008 at 02:24:16 Admirably perdormed, they meet the spirit of the recitative by pauses, gestures, ie... acting perfectly (This scene can be missed by rude acting). GREAT GREAT PERFORMANCE.
November 19th, 2008 at 02:47:15 Gilfry is SOOO deceiving ! I must admit that my first impression was "he's great but definitely not una voce verdiana". And then, I learnt that he had been singing di Posa with great success ! Mea culpa, Rod.
November 19th, 2008 at 03:10:14 God he's GOOD...I guarantee she had NO PROBLEM acting in that seduction scene
November 19th, 2008 at 03:33:13 The poor thing just needs somebody to tell her that she is SPECIAL, that life has something better to offer...
November 19th, 2008 at 03:56:12 Gilfry has been praised by the critics for, unlike many other singers, not making strange faces on the stage, but managing his mimic really well. To my mind, this duetto fully confirms that.
November 19th, 2008 at 04:19:11 Quite possibly my new favorite Giovanni. Usually when I've heard this duet it comes off without emotion, almost farce-like. But these two really make you feel the desire they have for each other. I've never seen such a beautiful seduction in my entire life!
November 19th, 2008 at 04:42:10 Hello Trisolde. Could you post more of this Don Giovanni, or more of Rodney Gilfry? I've just discovered him a couple of weeks ago, by watching your video, I think he's wonderful. This indeed is a true seduction scene, not the wishy-washy "La cidarem" I've always seen performed. So could you please add some more? Thank you.
November 19th, 2008 at 05:05:09 Muy bueno ! gracias ,desde argentina.
November 19th, 2008 at 05:28:08 Hmm...odd that Bartoli was cast this way...I prefer her Zerlina, but she's very good here as well.
November 19th, 2008 at 05:51:07 Bartoli is amazing here, but her performance in La Cenerentola is astounding.
Muchas gracias .
November 19th, 2008 at 06:37:05 I like the way the singers move here, their postures and actions reflecting the drama. The Zerlina is indeed rather shy and the Don Giovanni smooth and tender without obvious lasciviousness. When Donna Elvira comes in, her body posture is tense with frustration and anger; just look at those arms of hers! No wonder the Don jumps back when she snarls at him.
